Match Report – Maeshafn CC v Cynnwyd

Sunday 8th June 2008

Team: Gresty, Fagan, Thomas, Pugh, Rhun Jones, Scarratt, Longhurst, Nicholson, Parsons, Bickerton.

Maeshafn won by 7 wickets. Cynnwyd 65 all out, Maeshafn 65 for 4. 35 over game.

Maeshafn won 20/20 game - Maeshafn 140 for 9, Cynnwyd 108 all out.

Good game played in a nice spirit against a nice team. Enjoyable afternoon. Maeshafn managed to bowl Cynnwyd out for a low score having removed their four good batsmen slightly too cheaply and quickly. We came into bat and enjoyed a few overs struggling against the bowling of Martin Bodden, the Cynnwyd captain.

We played a second game against Cynnwyd, scoring 140, with Dan Longhurst getting 53 and retiring, and Bruce Nicholson hitting 29. Cynnwyd have come on a lot since last year, as we have also, but their bowling was good in places.

Our 140 off 20 overs was slightly too much for them, and we bowled them out for 108 off 16 overs, having given everyone a chance to have a bowl.

Repeat match next week may not be so easy....!

Think of all the fun we could have with a bowling machine....!
